Casting Photos

Rebecca began to cast performers for the video. Here are the chosen people.

Leona as the lead singer

Claye as the guitarist

Shenez as the keyboardist

Minyee as the drummer

Using band members of different ethnicities will subvert the conventions of indie bands usually all male and white. We feel these actors would be perfect for our music video.

(edit from the 15th of Monday: We have unfortunately had to let Shenez as the film schedule became more problematic due to family commitments Claye due to health issues. Rebecca quickly find another person, Nuru who can plays the guitar making this into a group of three. We all decided reducing the group to three would still be effective and easier to manage.)

Originally, we were thinking about having the circus as our theme. Rebecca went on a reece shot in a park where I came across a travelling circus. Although we would of liked to use this circus themes, we knew that this wouldnt be realistic as the circus wouldn't be there for long, causing a probably for reshoots. Although we would may use it for the digi pack.

Institutional Research

Rebecca researched different types of indie record labels that Changing Modes would be signed to. Rebecca chose the independent label XL recordings, which all the group agreed. They feature silimar artists to our own, which are mostly sub genre indie bands (ie indie pop) with upbeat tempo such as Friendly Fires and Vampire Weekend. I feel that our band would effectively fit in with the label's artist repitiore. I would sign the band to an independent label as they are more conventional for supporting alternative and more niche music than mainstream. I would feel this would be suitable for our band.

Advertising:
I would advertise the band's single on billboards in east london such as brick lane, where are primary market are more likely to socialise and also Camden Market. I would advertise our band in music magazines such as NME and websites such as Pithchfork which speacilise more in indie music.

I would advertise our specific music channels such as MTV Rocks where they play more indie/rock and alternative music both from major and indie labels.
