Final Poster- step by step!

the picture was taken from one of our shoots, Mica then adjust the hue and saturation to get the vibrant.

Using the pen and text tool i then marked and typed the covers title, Mica changed it to a dark blue as the original colour was blending to the background. Mica then added the red line by using 'stroke' and 'thickness'. Afterwards the opacity was changed so the title didn't look so harsh.

most posters have reviews from well known music reviewers, Mica used the Guardian, Times and NME as they are popular with new and upcoming artist.
Finally Mica added the artist name, most posters have the name small since the audience either know or would remember the CD title better.

After reciving comments for our digi pack, Mica had changed the logos making it more see through while making the reviews comments, title and artist name more smaller, Mica also moved some text around to make it less clustered

Final Digi Pack- step by step!

(the final outcome for the CD cover that conforms to the conventions of the indie genre.)

because most of the design was bold and vibrant, Mica had chosen to do a simple line art of the whole group while adding their name (low opacity to make it transparent)

after the comments, more text was added and changed to red to link to the theme.

Mica first erased the floor (background), adding another layer she used the paint brush tool to make a new background.

using the adjustments new texture of different tones was created.

Stroke was used by double clicking on the layer and selecting stroke, Mica went for complementary colours so Nuru could stand out more.

Mica used gradient lots of times to give it different colours and shading

yellow/orange text also became complementary and stand out against the blue while wrote the radar downwards as a link to the neon lights in stop motion.

This is the final outcome, after fiddling with the opacity again Mica decided to add yellow circles under the blue gradient giving it a green hue.

This was inspired through indie bands such as vampire weekend who uses random pictures, makes them look vintage by changing the brightness, saturation and hue and adding there name of song/artist or album cover in the for ground (this is usually more vibrant making it more eye catching.)

After selecting the trousers with the lasso tool, Mica used the a special brush tool; colouring the trousers while leaving the details untouched.

Mica had once again used hue and saturation to conform to the indie genre the shoes has a wired perspective and is slightly off angle, making it a unique shot. The shoes were purposely made all red to link with the theme of red.

this one had gathered the most reviews as it seemed to be more polished. Mica also placed copy right laws, recored label and the artist website to make it more authentic.

Digipak ideas

Today Minyee was adding final touches to our video, including minor edits such as adding more transitions such as wipes towards the end and making sure the video has a fast and consistent pace through out the video.

Mica also began designing our digi pack and poster. While researching, the group have been inspired by the Ting Tings website and first album cover because of the use of colour and typography that would represent our band's genre well.

(Ting tings official website)
As Ting tings is one of our most influenced artist Mica and Rebecca had researched there website for digi pack ideas. The conventions of this website shows bright colours and patterns with the artist name at the top that goes against making it more bold.

Most of the contents is in the middle keeping it clean and simple. there are also other icons for interaction i.e looking at there interview with the BBC.

this was the original idea used from the internet for our CD cover, however Mica though it would be better to make one from scratch.

The reason why Mica made a new one was because of the simplicity which was more manageable.

(A digi pack design from a A2 music video that Rebecca and Mica found.)

the graffiti art design has vibrant colours which draws the attention the most, however the clothing are quite plain and boring which subverts to the indie conventions.

Audience feedback first draft

After finishing the first draft we held a session where are targetted audience was asked to give critisim to the video, this is what we gathered.

the negatives had wanted more close up shots of the musical instruments but had liked the transition of colours it was also synched to the music as seen with a wide range of shots. Audience did not undestand the chemical scene due to the long takes and was advises to revisit.

the glow sticks and typography gave it lots of colour, though the actors were motivated and energetic people would like a cross cut when we get a extreme close up of the main leaders lips since it feels as it drags on

what the majority of audience had issues with was the chemical sequence not only that it needed to be in the beat but it needed more transitions

People liked the overlay of the main leaders lip and the glow sticks and would like to see more or similar effect. There was a strong prasie to the editing technique on final cut pro as it seemed to be more polished.

4th January 2011- Audience feedback

Today, after finishing the first draft we held a session where we viewed our music video and to the primary audience of 16-17 year old for feedback.
The feedback received was:

The negatives had wanted more close up shots of the musical instruments but had liked the transition of colours it was also synced to the music as seen with a wide range of shots. Audience did not understand the chemical scene due to the long takes and was advises to re edit and more on the beat.

Other feedback included that the glow sticks and typography gave the video vibrancy and colour, which was our intention. The audience was also impressed by the lively performance of the actors in the video and felt it matched the pace of the track. However there was some audience feedback that the extreme close up of the main leaders lips since it feels as it drags on for a little to long and slowed the pace of the video towards the end. We will alter this, by cross cutting from the lead singer's lips to a beauty shot of her to make the video more interesting at the end.

Some of the audience had issues with was the chemical sequence, and that take was too long and that the test tubes should be edited at a much faster pace to the beat. It was also suggested that more interesting transitions could be used. Although the audience received positively to the transitions used at the end of the video, such as the overlay of the main singer's lips and the glow sticks, and would like more of these effects in the video.

Overall the audience was impressed with the video and a few minor adjustments such as a few more interesting transitions and faster pace editing to match with the beat to make the video seem more polished.

Also a happy happy birthday to Rebecca who turned 19!! :D
